Dimitra Kyrgiafini is a PhD Candidate at the Laboratory of Genetics, Comparative and Evolutionary Biology (BIOZ), Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. She holds a degree in Agriculture from the Department of Agriculture, Crop Production and Rural Environment, School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Thessaly, as well as an M.Sc. in Crop Sciences, specializing in Plant Protection and Nutrition. 

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Zissis Mamuris, focusing on the application of genomic and transcriptomic approaches for the characterization and conservation of indigenous Greek livestock breeds, with particular emphasis on cattle and pigs.

Her research interests focus on animal genetics and genomics, indigenous livestock breeds, functional genomics and sustainable animal production, integrating molecular and computational approaches to investigate genetic diversity, adaptation and traits of economic and biological importance.
