Marianna Kyrgiafini holds a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from the University of Thessaly. She completed her Ph.D. in 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Zissis Mamuris, with a doctoral dissertation focusing on the role of non-coding RNAs in male infertility. Her interdisciplinary training also includes specialized programs in genetics, embryology, evolutionary biology, genetic counselling and science communication.

She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Genetics, Comparative and Evolutionary Biology (BIOZ) and a Contract Lecturer at the University of Thessaly. She has participated in national and European research projects and has authored more than 26 peer-reviewed scientific publications, with an h-index of 9. Her scientific activity also includes presentations at national and international conferences, including a Best Oral Presentation Award, as well as extensive peer-review and editorial activities. She serves on the Early Career Editorial Board of Targets and the Early Career Reviewing Panel of Reproduction and Fertility and is involved in Special Issues of Genes, ncRNA and Animals.

Her research focuses on human and animal genomics, reproductive genetics, non-coding RNAs and bioinformatics, with particular interest in the molecular mechanisms underlying fertility, phenotypic variation and environmental adaptation. Her work integrates whole-genome sequencing (WGS), RNA-seq, small RNA-seq and multi-omics approaches with advanced computational analyses to investigate genetic and regulatory variation and identify biologically relevant molecular signatures in human and animal systems.
